In commemoration of Sik Sik Yuen's centenary, a Countdown Opening Ceremony marked the initiation of a series of celebrations.
The event signified the commencement of the one-hundred-day countdown leading to the grand opening ceremony.
Through our research on Sik Sik Yuen's history and story, we've discovered that Sik Sik Yuen follows the guiding principle of 'to Act Benevolently and to Teach Benevolence' (普濟勸善).
We distilled the essence of the guiding principle to create the key message '普善百年.' Combining '普善' and '百年,' these two words together convey the meaning of acting benevolently for a hundred years, directly encapsulating the guiding principle and the message of the 100th anniversary.
We honor the traditional Chinese-style appearance of Sik Sik Yuen, characterized by grand red pillars, a golden roof, delicate carvings, and colorful lanterns, reflecting the rich Taoist culture. Our task was to meticulously express these elements in every detail of the device. The creative palette not only harmonizes with the Yuen's aesthetics, but each design element also carries profound meaning.
The circular base structure symbolizes the Wheel of Life, while lucky clouds embody good fortune, and red chrysanthemums represent luck and longevity. To enrich the Taoist essence, we've subtly incorporated The Big Dipper (北斗七星), adding a unique element that enhances the overall visitor experience.
